Audit Services supports the efforts of the organization by providing independent, objective risk-based audit assurance and advisory services. Audit Services results are conveyed to management to assist in risk management with a specific focus on internal controls. Routinely, results are reported to the Audit Committee(s) of the Board(s) of Directors.

Direct Retail Lending

Direct Retail Lending manages the direct retail loan portfolio and supports the retail lending function of the bank. Direct retail loans include home equity, auto and personal loans. In addition, they are responsible for sales campaign coordination throughout the BB&T footprint, as well as reviewing and updating policies and lending guidelines.

Financial Management (Corporate Accounting)

The Financial Management Group is responsible for all treasury functions for the corporation including investment portfolio management, interest rate risk management, securities trading and balance sheet management. They are responsible for managing adverse interest rate impacts on net interest income, as well as providing financial reporting to Executive Management, Board of Directors, the Federal Reserve, FDIC and shareholders.

Loan Services

Loan Services is responsible for security, storage, and imaging of all completed retail and business loan documentation, and for ensuring that loan documentation complies with legal, regulatory and compliance requirements. Additionally, Loan Services provides support to the business and retail lender, coordinates conversion data mapping from acquired banks and manages the credit bureau relationships at BB&T.

Marketing

Marketing serves as a consulting resource for all products and lines of business at BB&T. From market research to marketing plan development to implementation, Marketing provides the skills and knowledge necessary to ensure achievement of the sales and marketing needs of BB&T. Working with an outside advertising agency, Marketing also manages all forms of advertising, public relations, and brand usage.

Mortgage Lending Administration

Mortgage Lending Administration manages and supports all mortgage lending activity across the BB&T network – primarily first position home loans that can be sold on the secondary market. Mortgage Lending Administration reviews and updates policies and requirements for regulatory, credit and interest rate risks as well as loan servicing and financial policy and analysis.

Dealer Finance

Recognized as one of the top 10 bank auto finance companies in the country, Dealer Finance contracts with approved automobile dealers to finance new and used car purchases throughout the BB&T footprint. Dealer Finance also finances dealer inventories and works closely with the banking network to maintain and grow relationships with more than 5,000 dealer clients.

Special Assets

BB&T Special Assets is a combined group of central retail collections, business and retail recovery departments, the bankruptcy department, asset disposal, and real estate foreclosure and sales. This division is in charge of managing the accounts that the bank has identified as high risk because of bankruptcy, poor loan performance, foreclosure, or repossession.

Specialized Lending

The Specialized Lending Group comprises eight independent, wholly-owned subsidiary companies of BB&T. The primary purpose of the Specialized Lending Group is to provide non-traditional lending products and services to clients, allowing them access to credit within an acceptable level of risk.

Support Services

The Support Services Division provides for the physical needs of the Corporation, managing real estate acquisitions and disposals as well as facilities design, renovation, construction and management. Support Services is responsible for security, investigations, business recovery and purchasing. Other functions include monitoring the division budget, identifying long-term strategic corporate space needs and coordinating merger and acquisition activities.
