How do I know that an email I receive is actually from BB&T?

Each BB&T SecureMessage contains a number of items that identify the message as legitimate:

  • Look for the BB&T logo at the top of each message
  • Look for the BB&T employee or BB&T department name and direct contact information
  • Look for the BB&T toll-free support number at the bottom of the email.
Moreover, the included email links should take you directly to the BB&T SecureMessage logon page. A BB&T SecureMessage will never ask you to provide information other than your name, email address and your password. If you receive an email asking for different information, or if the links in the email direct you to a site other than the BB&T SecureMessage logon page, delete the email.
