What is the BB&T Visa® Gift Card?
The BB&T Visa Gift Card is a prepaid card, not a credit card. The value of the card is limited to the amount of money loaded on the card by the purchaser. It carries the Visa logo, like any Visa credit or check card, but because it is a prepaid card, your spending is limited to the amount of money placed on the card by the purchaser. The BB&T Visa Gift Card allows you to buy what you want, when you want, at millions of merchants where Visa debit cards are accepted.

How does my BB&T Visa Gift Card work?
Using your BB&T Visa Gift card for a purchase is similar to using any Visa card. At the time of purchase, give the card to the cashier and sign the receipt or push "credit" on the keypad. Although it states "debit" on the front of the card, the BB&T Visa Gift Card does not come with a PIN, therefore your purchase will be declined if you push "debit."
Each time you use your card, the purchase amount is automatically deducted from your available balance. Knowing your balance before you shop will ensure your card is accepted. You can check your balance anytime by visiting BBT.com/giftcard or by calling 1-866-594-2076.

Yes. However, you should be aware that many restaurants factor in an automatic tip or other expenses above the purchase amount when authorizing card purchases. If your bill, plus the estimated tip or other expenses, exceeds the balance on the BB&T Visa Gift Card, it may be declined. If this situation occurs, ask the merchant to deduct a specific amount from the card and use another method of payment for the balance.

You may need to present your BB&T Visa Gift Card at the time of merchandise return. If the merchant's return policy allows it, the merchant will credit the amount of the purchase back on your card. Remember to save your receipt and the card even after you have spent all the funds in case there are any merchandise returns.

What if I change my mind and want to cancel a purchase?
A merchant may cancel the transaction at your request. However, if the merchant has already obtained an authorization for your transaction, funds equal to the authorization amount will not be available for purchases for three to seven business days.
