BB&T is here to share knowledge to help clients move in a brighter direction. By focusing on financial needs at every stage of life, we empower students, friends and neighbors to become more informed consumers, armed with the knowledge and insight they need to take control of their financial future.
Our initiatives include:
BB&T Bank Bus
Rolling into our communities in support of financial education, the BB&T Bank Bus brings money management tools and free credit reports to neighbors from all walks of life.
BB&T Financial Foundation Scholars Program
In partnership with EverFi, the country's leading education technology company, this program provides interactive financial education to high schools in North Carolina, South Carolina and Alabama. More than 30,000 students have completed or are currently enrolled in the six-hour curriculum covering core financial concepts.
Buttonwood and HBCUs
BB&T is proud to add financial education to higher learning with EverFi’s Buttonwood Personal Finance and Student Loan Management™ Platform. The program, which kicked off in 2011 at five historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in Alabama, teaches students key financial strategies for successfully managing their personal finances and loan obligations both while in school and after graduating.
BB&T has a rich history of supporting houses of worship, understanding that they serve as centers for inspiration and knowledge across our communities.
Through our Faith-Based Symposiums, BB&T offers Capacity Building Training to Church-Based Community Development Corporations. Programs include affordable housing courses taught by National Development Council instructors; organizational strategies and guidance from the Duke University Law Center; and training provided by Freddie Mac for First-Time Homebuyer counselors.
In addition, BB&T has partnered with the Jumpstart Coalition, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, local America Saves chapters, the Social Security Administration and other nonprofits to host church financial fairs.
