On October 15 your BankAtlantic accounts, including online banking, will convert to BB&T.
The following are some frequently asked questions about the conversion process and your new BB&T OnLine® and BB&T Small Business OnLine® Internet banking services. The answers here will help you understand what you should do during this conversion, and where you can get assistance.
You should receive your last statement from BankAtlantic shortly after October 12, 2012. When the conversion to BB&T is complete, you should receive your statements at approximately the same time as you do now. BB&T may combine your checking, savings and overdraft protection account information into one statement. We will mail your credit line statements separately. For the first few months, you’ll see both your current deposit account number(s) and your new BB&T deposit account number(s) on your statements.
If you currently receive your statements online only, you will begin receiving them again in the mail. However, once you log on to your new online banking account, you may easily return to receiving your statements online only. You’ll simply need to indicate your preferences and accept the applicable agreements when you log on.
You can also register with BB&T Alerts to automatically receive a notice when your statement is ready for viewing.
You should receive your new BB&T Check Card by October 12, 2012, to replace your current card. Please activate and begin using your new card after 5 p.m. on October 14, 2012.
If you have a BankAtlantic debit card you can continue to use your current Personal Identification Number (PIN). You will have the additional benefit of no-fee access at more than 2,400 BB&T 24 ATMs in 12 states and the District of Columbia.
On October 15, 2012, you will have access to free BB&T online banking and unlimited OnLine® Bill Payment 24 hours a day, seven days a week, anywhere there is an Internet connection. If you currently use BankAtlantic’s Online Banking service, your BB&T User ID may be the same as your current User ID (unless you are informed otherwise by mail), and your new, temporary password will be the last five digits of your Social Security number. For business accounts it will be the last five digits of your tax identification number.
BB&T allows you to conveniently monitor account activity by receiving alerts via mobile text or email. BB&T Alerts supports account balance and transaction alerts as well as bill payment, credit card, statement availability, profile change and more for your online accounts.
You’ll be able to register on October 15, 2012, once you log on to online banking. From the overview page, simply click the Alerts tab. If you are currently using alerts with BankAtlantic, please go to the Alerts tab to sign up and customize your new alert settings.
You can use your mobile device to securely access banking services instantly by sending and receiving SMS text messages, accessing our mobile website, or downloading our mobile banking application for iPhone®, Android®, and BlackBerry® devices. You can also use our smartphone app to deposit checks.
You’ll be able to register for Mobile Banking on October 15, 2012. Simply log on to BB&T OnLine Banking and click the BB&T Mobile link beneath the message center to begin the registration process.
If you have a loan or mortgage, you will receive information about any changes to your account, including how and when to make payments. If your account is still in the transfer process, you will receive a notification with this information shortly.
