Target Corp. Security Breach Update
Target has confirmed publicly that unauthorized access to payment card data may have impacted some guests who made credit and debit card purchases in Target stores from November 27 to December 15, 2013.
BB&T is taking every appropriate measure to protect you, our client, from fraud resulting from Target's data breach. We are using sophisticated layered fraud tools to monitor your card accounts.
As an added layer of protection and a sense of security, we always encourage you to monitor your accounts for any unauthorized activity. You can monitor your accounts real-time by signing up for mobile alerts via BB&T OnLine® Banking. You also can review your account activity via BB&T OnLine® Banking and/or BB&T Mobile Banking.
If you identify any unauthorized activity on your account, we encourage you to immediately contact us so that we can block and reissue your card:
- For BB&T Debit Cards, call BB&T Phone24 at 800-226-5228.
- For BB&T Credit Cards, contact the Bankcard Call Center at 800-476-4228.
- For our BB&T Commercial Credit Card clients, contact us at 800-397-1253.
- Our associates are also ready to assist you in any of our more than 1,800 financial centers where you can obtain a Temporary Debit Card and have your BB&T Debit Card replaced.
It is also important to note, as a BB&T client, you will not be held liable for any unauthorized charges reported in a timely manner. With both the BB&T Credit Card and Debit Card, we offer our clients zero fraud liability for any unauthorized charges.
Please use caution in disclosing your PIN and any other personal identification to others. BB&T will never ask for your PIN.
