BB&T eBill Service Terms & Conditions

Effective October 23, 2016

The BB&T eBill eService (the "eService") enables Branch Banking and Trust Company ("BB&T") clients to receive, view and pay electronic billing statements within the U by BB&T platform.

All terms below apply to the eService, your use of the eService shows you understand and agree with these terms and conditions.

I. Definitions

The following definitions apply with respect to the eService:

AutoPay refers to the automatic payment service that pays your eBill with the date and amount you want to pay.

Biller is any business or person providing eBills to you through the eService.

eBill refers to the electronic delivery of a bill from a Biller.

Biller Account Number refers to your Biller's account number for your Biller account.

Funding Account is your BB&T account used for Bill Pay.

II. General terms

Only BB&T clients who have enrolled in U by BB&T and have an eligible Bill Pay Funding Account are able to participate in the eService.

You can select any viewable Biller in the eService.

The eBill

The content of an eBill will not contain all of your bill details. Bill details are available on your Biller's website. Some Billers will require you to log on to their website to view the entire bill.

Each Biller reserves the right to accept or deny your request to receive eBills.

The presentment of your first eBill will vary from Biller to Biller and may take up to 60 days, depending on the Biller's billing cycle. Additionally, the ability to receive a paper copy of your bill in addition to your eBill is at the sole discretion of the Biller. Some Billers offer dual delivery of paper and electronic statements. It is your responsibility to be aware of the paper suppression options for each Biller. Some Billers offer a trial period, which allows you to receive paper and electronic statements for a set amount of time (defined by the Biller). Once the trial period is over, it is your responsibility to alter your statement suppression options.

The eService

The eService communicates information as provided by a Biller.

The eService may offer several different statuses of an eBill. Each status is informational to help you quickly identify a possible action for an eBill. However, these conveniences do not alter the obligations contained in these terms and conditions. Details on status or any additional convenience feature will be available in the eService.

The eService may offer an AutoPay feature that varies from Biller to Biller and is not available for all Billers. If you elect to participate in AutoPay within the eService, then you are authorizing BB&T to schedule and submit payments on your behalf. As with any payments, you are solely responsible for ensuring your Funding Account has appropriate funds to cover any payments processed through an AutoPay feature. In the event a replacement eBill is issued from the Biller, the AutoPay feature may issue a payment, because the eService cannot know the difference of duplicate or replacement eBills from an original eBill. It is your responsibility to ensure additional payments are not made through the AutoPay feature for duplicate and replacement eBills.

The timeframe for cancellation of your electronic bill presentment may vary from Biller to Biller. It may take up to 60 days for paper bills to begin, depending on the billing cycle of each Biller. The eService will notify your Biller about your ending enrollment in the eService or your deselection of a Biller. It is your sole responsibility to make arrangements for an alternative form of bill delivery after cancellation or deselection of a Biller.

The Biller reserves the right to cease all eBill delivery through the eService at any time.

III. The client agrees

The client agrees to be solely responsible for:

  • Keeping any Biller Accounts current
  • Keeping your Funding Account balance sufficient to pay any eBills through the eService
  • Updating or changing your personal information such as, but not limited to, name, address, phone numbers and email addresses, with the Biller
  • Maintaining all usernames and passwords for all Biller sites
  • Contacting a Biller directly if you do not receive an eBill through the eService

You can only use the eService when eligible. Enrollment or continued use of the eService when not eligible will not relieve you of obligations under these terms and conditions and will not limit any damages.

Do not use anyone else's information to gain unauthorized access to another person's bill.

You must be enrolled in BB&T alerts and maintain a valid email address on file to utilize the eService.

The activation of the eService for a Biller authorizes BB&T to obtain bill data from the Biller on your behalf. Some Billers require your user name and password for that Biller and you will need to provide that information to BB&T. By providing us with such information, you authorize BB&T to use the information to obtain your bill data.

Each Biller may have specific obligations and you are responsible for accepting and meeting the obligations of each Biller.

You have to be continually enrolled in BB&T alerts and maintain a valid email address on file with accurate information with BB&T. If your email address becomes suspended within the BB&T alert system, it can impact the eService and you will no longer receive important security alerts. In the event you don't receive an alert, it is your responsibility to periodically log on to the eService and check the delivery of new eBills. The type of alerts may vary from Biller to Biller.

You hold BB&T harmless should a Biller fail to deliver your eBill, deliver an inaccurate eBill (an eBill with an error), fail to deliver an eBill in a timely fashion or deliver any payment (including AutoPay) made resulting from any of these events. All discrepancies or disputes regarding the accuracy of your eBill summary or detail provided to the eService by a Biller must be addressed directly with the Biller.

If you select the eService's Deliver By option to have your eBill paid a number of days you choose before any eBill due date, and the eBill is not received from the Biller in a reasonable time to allow for the number of days you have requested, then the payment will be scheduled as soon as the eBill arrives. Any Deliver By dates falling on a weekend or Federal holiday, will be scheduled for delivery on the preceding business day.

Copies of any previously delivered bills or eBills must be requested directly from the Biller.

BB&T may update your Biller Account Number as requested by the Biller, and it is your responsibility to ensure the accuracy of your Biller Account Number.

You may cancel the eService at any time. The eService will not be responsible for presenting any eBills already in process at time of cancellation. BB&T will not be responsible for any eBills presented or having payments in process at time of cancellation.

IV. The eService will

Upon activation of the eService, we will notify you immediately if the enrollment for a Biller is successful or display further instructions.

The eService will use its best effort and be responsible to promptly present the eBill information received from the Biller. In addition to notifications within the eService, the eService may send alerts to the email address established in your BB&T alert settings.

Occasionally, at the request of the Biller, the eService will provide your email address, service address or other data specifically requested by the Biller at the time of activating the eService and enrolling with that Biller, for purposes of the Biller informing you about the eService and bill information.

This agreement does not alter your liability or obligations that currently exist between you and your Biller.
