Celebrating five years of BB&T’s company-wide service effort, we continue to roll up our sleeves and make a positive difference. The BB&T Lighthouse Project, held each May and June, gives us the opportunity to put the BB&T mission into action, doing our part to improve our communities.
It has been our privilege to offer service and corporate financial support to many overwhelmed and underfunded nonprofit organizations that continue to struggle in a challenging economic environment.
Together our associates have contributed more than 200,000 volunteer hours to local charities, participated in more than 4,400 community service projects and touched the lives of more than six million people in 25 states. We accomplished many of these efforts during work hours, when approximately 26,000 associates—85% of our workforce—carried on our company’s proud tradition of reaching out and giving back.
"In each of the past four years, our associates have shown that in times of economic uncertainty, our dedication to our clients and communities is a guarantee. BB&T's hard-working associates share the desire to be the best, and that includes supporting their communities. I could not be more proud of them, the Lighthouse Project, and what both mean to our organization."
