[MUSIC PLAYING] Introducing BB&T's three-part series on financial education-- Bank on Your Success. Research shows that many people don't receive the financial education they need in high school or college to make solid financial decisions when they enter the real world. Many people make choices based on trial and error, causing issues that may take years to repair.
We're committed to providing financial education to as many people as possible through the Bank on Your Success program, which is split up into three courses-- banking basics, family budgeting, and becoming a homeowner. We believe that mastering each of these topics will help you gain a stronger and more secure financial future.
Your BB&T professional, or what we call an "on-site coach," will work with you to set up a date and time to present these financial education courses. Let's break down each of the courses with a little more detail.
The banking basics course is the first in our series. We're going to highlight the most critical elements of banking, such as the value of a checking account, accounts and tools to help you save, and establishing credit. You'll also take part in several hands-on activities so that when you finish this course, you'll be armed with the ability to make real changes in your life.
The family budgeting course is the second part of our series. You'll learn the four key steps to creating an effective budget for your family-- one, determine your financial situation. Two, establish goals. Three, create tactical strategies. And four, communicate and adjust. You'll also have worksheets and other tools to help you set up your own personal or family budget and be better prepared for your future.
In the becoming a homeowner course, you'll learn some important facts about buying a home for the first time, such as, one, is home ownership right for you? Two, why should you own a home? Three, buying a short sale or REO or bank-owned property. Four, all about down payments, mortgage insurance, and closing costs. Five, finding a mortgage lender. Six, finding a real estate agent.
You'll be able to go through worksheets and other tools to help you prepare to purchase a home. Plus, you'll be able to ask questions about what to expect and how to go about making that important purchase decision.
Each course will take no longer than two hours to complete. We can facilitate these courses for you on separate days or take one day to complete the entire program. The Bank on Your Success program includes the following-- a BB&T professional to act as the on-site coach for each course, a DVD for each course, and participant workbooks.
It is a completely free financial education series. We look forward to partnering with you in providing the latest financial education to those you serve.
