[MUSIC PLAYING] MIKE: At BB&T, the security of your confidential information is one of our top priorities.
["MIKE":] Yeah, sure.
MIKE: Wait a minute. Who are you? You're not me.
["MIKE":] Are you sure I'm not you? Because I kind of look like you.
MIKE: It's true. You do kind of look like me. It's hard to tell the difference sometimes. Scams can be really convincing. So let's say you get a phone call like this.
["MIKE":] Hi, there. This is Mike from BB&T Fraud calling. We believe there's some fraudulent activity on your account, and for your safety, it's critical that I authenticate that I'm speaking to Brittany, and that you provide me with your PIN number for your debit card ending in 1212.
MIKE: Wait, wait, wait, wait. We would never do that. BB&T will never call you and ask for your PIN number over the phone. If you do get a suspicious text or phone call, especially one pressuring you to act quickly, hang up and call us immediately using the number on the back of your card, or through our mobile app right here in the More menu.
Remember—don't take caller ID at face value. Those numbers can be fake to look like they're coming from BB&T. And be sure to use strong, unique passwords, and don't share them with anyone. This is just one flavor of the scam. The fraudsters are good, and will try to trick you to provide sensitive account information.
