BB&T Leadership and Career Programs will align your talent and skill with the right role and career education. How you begin your career is up to you. You can immediately start work while receiving professional training, or take on an immersive training experience in financial services to prepare you for leadership in a variety of roles.

Overview

The Early Career Program (ECP) and the Leadership Development Program (LDP) both offer highly competitive and unique training that prepares you for a career at BB&T. Here are some key differences between the two programs that should help you decide which option is right for you.

Early Career Program

  • Provides an appealing value proposition of "jump-starting" your career while providing an experience of professionalism and personal growth
  • Preferred majors may depend on the needs of the specific job
  • Open to recent or soon-to-be college graduates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and proven campus leadership involvement
  • Hires candidates into specific positions where they participate in 1 to 3 months of training completed during the first year of employment
  • Offered semi-annually, beginning in January and July  

Leadership Development Program

  • Provides an opportunity to extensively study a broad range of current issues in the financial services industry while focusing on key BB&T initiatives, foundational credit analysis and leadership
  • Business majors with 6 credit hours of accounting are preferred
  • Open to recent or soon-to-be college graduates with a GPA of 3.4 or higher and proven campus leadership experience 
  • Candidates hired into the program relocate to Winston-Salem, NC, to participate in a 7-month leadership immersion program
  • Offered annually, beginning in June
  • Candidates are placed in positions at the conclusion of the program

Curriculum

In the Early Career Program, you'll participate in 1 to 3 months of training completed during the first year of employment. In the Leadership Development Program, you'll train full-time in preparation for a variety of roles available once you complete the program.

Early Career Program

  • Initial onboarding in Winston-Salem, NC, that includes BB&T culture and philosophy and basic accounting coursework
  • Specific training is based on the role 
  • Instructor-led virtual sessions
  • Bring Back training events
  • Capstone and graduation

Leadership Development Program

  • Onboarding that includes BB&T culture and philosophy and basic accounting coursework
  • Executive Management Series
  • BB&T focus areas and business unit experiences
  • Financial services knowledge and industry-specific topics
  • Leadership immersion
  • Bank simulation
  • Bring Back training events
  • Capstone and graduation

Early Career Program

If you've earned—or will soon earn—a graduate or undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better and have campus leadership experience, we encourage you to apply for the BB&T Early Career Program. Programs start in January and July.

Leadership Development Program

If you've earned—or will soon earn—a graduate or undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.4 or better, you have proven campus leadership experience and you have 6 credit hours of accounting, we encourage you to apply for the BB&T Leadership Development Program. The Leadership Development Program is offered annually, beginning in June.
