Sending money to friends and family is easy

We've partnered with Zelle to give you a fast, safe and easy way to send and receive money directly between almost anyone you know, with no fees and typically within minutes.

With Zelle, you can send money to a friend or family member, like when you split the check at your favorite restaurant, chip in for a gift or pay the pet sitter. You can request money from someone who owes you and schedule recurring payments in advance for expenses you pay for regularly, such as rent or lawn care.

It’s easy to get started with Zelle. All you need is a BB&T checking account, an online banking user ID and password, and a US mobile number or email address.

How to get started

You can enroll with Zelle through U by BB&T® online banking or mobile app in three simple steps.

  1. Select Send Money with Zelle® in the U navigation menu
  2. Choose the primary account you want to use for Zelle payments
  3. Verify your contact information (U.S. mobile number and/or email) for payments

Enroll with Zelle now by logging in to U.

How it works

Simply select or add trusted contacts, enter the amount you wish to send, review and select Send.

If your trusted contact already uses Zelle, they'll receive their payment within minutes. If not, they'll receive a notification with instructions on how to enroll.

When using Zelle, be sure to have the correct contact information, and treat Zelle the same as sending cash.
