We've partnered with Zelle® to give you a fast, safe and easy way to send and receive money directly between almost anyone you know, with no fees and typically within minutes.1

Zelle is offered by the country's leading banks and credit unions, including BB&T, united in making payments easier for their clients. All you need is a BB&T checking account, an online banking user ID and password, and a mobile number or email address.

How to get started

You can enroll in Zelle through U by BB&T® online banking or mobile app in three simple steps.

  1. Select Send Money with Zelle in the U navigation menu
  2. Choose the primary account you want to use for Zelle payments
  3. Verify your contact information (mobile number and/or email) for payments

Enroll in Zelle now by logging in to U.

How Zelle works

Simply select or add contacts, enter the amount you wish to send, review and select Send.

If your contact already uses Zelle, they'll receive their payment within minutes. If not, they'll receive a notification with instructions on how to enroll.

When using Zelle, be sure to have the correct contact information, and treat Zelle the same as sending cash.

1Transactions typically occur within minutes between enrolled users. If a recipient is not yet enrolled with Zelle, they must enroll to receive their payment. Once their enrollment is complete, they'll typically receive that payment within minutes.

Must have a bank account in the United States to use Zelle.

Zelle is only available for retail clients for personal payments.
