A Statement from BB&T Chairman and CEO Kelly King
Here's the latest
All banking services are available. If you have questions or need help, we're here to serve you through our online and mobile banking services, 800-BANK-BBT (800-226-5228) or any of our more than 2,000 financial centers.
Refunds will be automatically processed for overdraft, overdraft protection, foreign ATM transaction and negative account balance fees incurred Saturday, Feb. 24, through Tuesday, Feb. 27, whether they are related to the lapse in service or not. There is no need for any action on our clients' part and many have already received refunds. We've also worked proactively with many of our clients on a number of fronts to address the inconveniences this lapse in service caused.
We are deeply sorry this has happened, and we appreciate our clients' patience. The outage began late Thursday afternoon, Feb. 22, and was caused by an equipment malfunction in one of our data centers. Our systems were substantially recovered by Saturday morning and we have no reason to believe this issue is related to cybersecurity. We are carefully reviewing the cause of this issue and taking steps to make sure this doesn't occur again in the future.
