Important Transition Dates

July 5, 2016

After this date, you will receive a letter listing your National Penn account number(s) and the corresponding BB&T number(s) along with instructions for ordering BB&T checks. Your National Penn checks will be honored until August 1, 2017.

July 15, 2016

Your account(s) will automatically convert to BB&T and you will be receiving your last National Penn statement. You should have received your BB&T Debit Card and PIN reminder.

July 17, 2016 

After 5 pm ET, you may activate your BB&T Debit Card and begin using it.

July 18, 2016

National Penn fully transitions to BB&T. You will have access to U by BB&T online banking with unlimited online bill payment, alerts and mobile banking. Information about your new user ID and temporary password will be sent separately so you can access your accounts on the first day. You can change your user ID and reset your password after you log in for the first time.

August 1, 2017

Direct deposits, automatic drafts, checks and deposit slips for your National Penn account number will no longer be accepted.

Important Account Information

Account Number(s)

Your BB&T account number(s) will be effective on July 18, 2016. We will send you a letter listing your National Penn account number(s) and the corresponding BB&T number(s).

Checks and Deposit Slips

Please continue to use your National Penn checks and deposit slips until August 1, 2017. If you need more National Penn checks, please order the minimum quantity. After July 5, 2016, you will receive a letter with instructions for ordering BB&T checks and deposit slips.

Debit Card and PIN

By July 15, 2016, you should receive your BB&T Debit Card to replace your National Penn check card. Your PIN will remain the same as your existing National Penn check card. For your convenience, a PIN reminder will be mailed to you. Please activate and begin using your BB&T Debit Card after 5 pm ET on July 17, 2016. You will receive additional information regarding the features and benefits of your new debit card with your card mailing.

Loans

You will receive information about any changes to your account, including how and when to make payments. If you currently receive a billing statement, you will continue to receive a billing statement. If you currently use a coupon book, you will start receiving monthly statement as of April 1, 2016. Your existing coupons will still be accepted but coupon books will no longer be issued after April 1.

What You Need to Do

Our goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible for you. For now, continue to bank as you normally do. However, in preparation for the upcoming change, please take the time to do the following:

  1. Make sure National Penn has your current mailing address. BB&T will be mailing important information about the transition to you.
  2. Review your online bill payment information. Your scheduled online bill payments will automatically convert to BB&T.
  3. Back up your transaction history. Your account history—including bill payments, deposits and purchases—will not convert to BB&T. You should download or print statements and save a bill payment history report through National Penn online banking.
